First up: Research Focus Group Project Assistant – Part-Time/Contract Position
This position will work hand-in-hand with the research moderator, attending research to assist in logistics coordination with the research facility, taking copious notes. Upon completion of the research, it requires a commitment for a few days afterward to write a “story” of learnings. You will manage the process of completing a report for client based off the data gathered during research.
This position typically requires fully focused time commitment of 1-3 long research days + independent time management to create a final report, within ~ 7-10 days, following the research project.
Pay is fee-based. Two separate fees will be awarded/project:
1. Assist/day
2. Successful report written
This is a part-time/contract position.
Details about “Typical” Research Projects:
Research projects can be 1 – 3 days long. Each research day can be 8-12 hours
Many projects are in Dallas, TX while some require travel (expenses will be reimbursed in addition to project fees).
Key Responsibilities:
Collect data during research by listening to and transcribing “real time” verbal conversations – typically, assist will sit be in a 2nd room where audio is piped in, listening and observing the conversation.
Assist moderator in preparing and setting up room with supplies, etc for a successful space/environment.
Summarize research project learnings into a report, typically in PowerPoint
Manage the delivery of a report “story” by crafting the content, and working with internal team and designer to create the overarching structure and visuals.
Skills Needed:
Self-Discipline:
Ability to work part-time as an independent contractor (1099)
Can follow specific directions, yet take the initiative to work on your own.
Curiosity:
A desire to learn in depth about the subject being studied
Able to focus on one subject for several hours
Client Centered:
Desire to put our client’s needs first
Able to intuitively understand what our clients need as you sit with them in a learning environment for several hours at a time
Ok with doing the small but important things that make people feel special
These technical skills come in handy:
Able to type really fast
Keen ability to translate verbal information to a written story
Proficient in PowerPoint
Ability to manage time effectively, independently for quick turnarounds
Work well under pressure, but can also focus after the research on piecing together a story from the learnings
